NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) is the lead Federal agency acting on President Obama’s executive order 13636 to improve the digital security of our national infrastructure.

Part of the national effort includes a series of three workshops in which NIST is presenting material on the topic and soliciting information that they implement inside their final national rollout plan.

San Diego has been selected as one of only three communities in the United States for a NIST kick-off workshop.

The first in this series of events was held in Washington, D.C. and the second event was held at Carnegie Mellon in May; both events had 400-500 attendees each.

A group of organizers in San Diego has successfully lobbied to have the final NIST workshop event here in San Diego on July 10-12 @ UCSD.

CyberHive has agreed to take the lead on organizing a CyberTini reception event at the end of Day 1 on July 10 from 4:30 to 7:00.

It will be a fun catered event with a Cajun them and blues band.
