Please join BIOCOM and AIS for a hosted breakfast featuring Dr. Timothy Chou, a noted authority on cloud computing.

With the Cloud being top of mind these days, this session offers an ideal opportunity for BIOCOM members to get up to speed on what the cloud is all about and then, with a solid foundation, obtain an understanding of how the cloud fits within the context of the field of bioinformatics. For example, there are cloud-compatible software tools for accelerating research that can be made available on-demand, in a highly scalable and secure manner.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Timothy Chou is an engaging speaker whose ability to bring “the cloud” down to earth is unsurpassed. Dr. Chou, the former president of Oracle On Demand, teaches cloud computing at Stanford University. He is the author of several books including: “Cloud: Seven Clear Business Models” and “Introduction to Cloud Computing (In about 1,000 words).” His writings can also be found at CIO.com (i.e. “Why Cloud Computing is Not Just a New Name for Outsourcing”) and CFO (i.e. “The Future Is Special-ized: CFOs should look for applications, platforms, and services designed for their needs”).
