SAN DIEGO, Calif., September 9, 2011 – American Internet Services (AIS), a leading provider of enterprise-class data center and connectivity services in the western United States, will be exhibiting at the DRJ 2011 Fall World conference that is taking place September 11-14 at The Sheraton San Diego Hotel. Sponsored by Disaster Recovery Journal, it is touted as the world’s largest Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery conference and exhibit.
The AIS exhibit (Booth 96) places emphasis on the “360° Approach to Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Application/Service Availability,” which has five key components:
- Physical Diversity
- Network Availability
- Data Archiving
- Data Replication
- Application Failover
“When we signed up for the conference several months ago, we put our minds to coming up with a way to help companies organize their thoughts around business continuity and disaster recovery,” said Tim Caulfield, chief executive officer at AIS. “We feel the 360-degree approach we have created is both informative and actionable.”
San Diego Power Outage – The Approach in Action
The massive power outage that hit the Southern California on Thursday served as the ultimate test of the approach. AIS has six premium, enterprise-class, carrier-neutral data centers with locations in Los Angeles, San Diego and Phoenix. They are all designed and operated to meet the highest levels of redundancy to ensure infrastructure services are always available.
Caulfield remarked, “All of our data centers were up and on generator power, so there weren’t any issues or impact on our clients.”
AIS has generators, onsite fuel storage and fuel supply contracts in place to keep the facilities operating for an indefinite period of time.
Disaster Recovery Quick Start Package
At the booth, along with the 360° Approach, AIS will be discussing its Disaster Recovery (DR) Quick Start Package (QSP) which was unveiled in March. It is an affordable, turnkey solution that enables companies to quickly establish a remote site for their mission critical data and applications in a location considered to be one of the best in the United States in terms of safety from natural disasters – Phoenix, Arizona.
The AIS DR Quick Start Package provides the following:
- 1/3 private rack (14ru) in the AIS Van Buren (Phoenix) data center
- Redundant (A+B) power circuits with dedicated power distribution units (PDU)
- Automatic Transfer Switch for single-powered devices
- 1 Mbps of premium bandwidth with eight IP addresses
