San Diego, CA – March 30th, 2010 – American Internet Services (AIS), a leading provider of data center colocation and connectivity solutions, today announced that AIS has received SAS 70 Type II compliance for all five San Diego data center facilities from independent global auditing firm NDB. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, NDB is a premier CPA and independent auditing firm which specializes in audits for technology providers.
The Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) 70 is an auditing standard originally created by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and applies specifically to service organizations. As a result, the SAS 70 Type II data center compliance is an internationally recognized standard which reviews all levels of technology service providers over a six-month period for business practices, communication, internal procedures and security.
SAS 70 Type II compliance for data centers is also a field audit, and NDB auditors spent six months off and on-site in California, rigorously investigating AIS and its San Diego collocation facilities. This included examining the control environment and activities, risk assessment activities, information and communication systems, monitoring activities, and testing the operating effectiveness of all controls set in place during the auditing period. Additionally, NDB auditors went through almost 190 different control and policy areas, from physical security to accounting practices.
“As the completion of this independent data center audit verifies,” emphasizes Alessandra Lezama, CEO of American Internet Services, “the colocation services that our clients entrust with AIS are 100% functional and secure.” With this latest audit completed, all San Diego AIS data centers are in compliance for another year as an accredited colocation home for any Sarbanes-Oxley or HIPAA-compliant organization.
